This tournament is coming up in two weeks time. It’s a small event, but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a chance to bring Khador out to play and I have some new toys to put through their paces. It’s a two list event and I’m planning to bring one old reliable and one ‘caster I’ve never used before.

I’ve used Karchev a lot in MkII and for this tournament I decided to go for a pretty straightforward list with him. I always enjoy fielding him and fielding ‘jacks is what Warmachine should be all about. Warjacks that get towed halfway across the battlefield before the activate is just a beautiful thing to behold!

    Points: 25/25
    Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
    * Beast-09 (11pts)
    * Destroyer (9pts)
    * Destroyer (9pts)
    * War dog (1pts)

Tow followed by Bombard shots to the face is the order of the day. There are some subtleties to this list, but very few. For opponents who can’t deal with armour it is a horrible list to face. It doesn’t have any really terrible match-ups, though I’d avoid armies with lots of weapon masters unless I was sure I could first strike them. I’ve played Bane Thrall heavy lists enough to know how they work, but this list could struggle a little against them. I can probably ignore most other stealthy things! Oh yeah, armies with lots of Disruption would be best avoided too!

My second list has all of my new toys in it!

    Points: 25/25
    Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Champion (*5pts)
    * Marauder (7pts)
    * Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker (2pts)
    Gun Carriage (9pts)
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
    Kayazy Eliminators (Leader and Grunt) (3pts)
    Kayazy Eliminators (Leader and Grunt) (3pts)
    Man-o-war Drakhun (without dismount) (4pts)

I only finished painting this list last night and unlike Karchev I have no experience using Vlad2. This is a trickier list in some ways. Vlad’s feat coupled with the Elimiators and Drakhun is formidable. Transference is superb for those second swings from the Kayazy. The Battle Mechaniks are there for two reasons – the main one is to keep the Gun Carriage in the game; the second is as a meat shield! That brings me on to the Gun Carriage… Hand of Fate makes it superb. Those 4″ templates should hit now and cause a lot more damage than expected. The Marauder is a ‘jack I quite like and with Assail it can create some havoc! With all of those tasty upkeeps Wyshnalyrr is there to give me a free one and maybe help if I decide to cast Razorwind.

So there you go, my planned lists for the Belfast Brawl laid bare.

Until next time,

Owen

Note: I might change my lists before Belfast Brawl so my opponents shouldn’t bank on those being final. Mwahahaa!
