This is the first of two articles that describe the rules for a campaign system for Warmachine and Hordes. This part describes how to select armies and manage attrition. Part two describes an example four game campaign, the benefits of winning and how to figure out who won the campaign. OVERVIEW This campaign system is [...]

Okay, this is my last Learning to play Hordes article. Did I hear a collective sigh?! Anyway,I think I’ve got a measure of Saeryn, or at least she’s not a complete mystery to me. I had a game on Tuesday night and everything clicked. My dice luck was poor, but I managed to get a [...]

Last night the talking stopped and the fighting started. There is no better way to learn a game, faction or new warlock than to dive straight in and get some games in. Anthony brought his 35pt Cryx force up to the house. This was my chance to try out the list and tactics I posted [...]

From the last post we learned two things – I can’t play Hordes (certainly not using the delicate warlocks) and I can write a lot of Hordes Theory. Now it’s time to go from talking to doing. I have a game later this evening and I’m making up the army list. Saeryn will be my [...]

So, what better time to learn to play Hordes than when Warmachine MkII is released!? I’ve had my Legion army since Hordes was initially released, but it’s been more of a painting project than an army. I don’t need to learn the rules, I know them and am an accomplished Warmachine player, but I do [...]

These have to be the easiest paint job I’ve done in a while. I painted them using a similar technique to Eiryss and used the Citadel Foundation paints on the flesh (Orkhide Shade and Knarloc Green). I then washed it with Thraka Green. Owen

I’ve played in lots of tournaments, mostly Warhammer, but also Warmachine and Hordes. It’s easy to forget something vital when packing up for a tournament, so here are my check lists. Here’s my Warhammer tournament check list – 1. Army (Miniatures, Movement Trays) 2. Dice (D6s, Scatter, Artillery, Turn Counter) 3. Templates (Flame and two [...]

I’ve been using three army builders of late, Forward Kommander, Warmachine & Hordes Builder and iBodger. Both are excellent tools. Forward Kommander is a web-based army builder that manages your collection and is primarily focused on MkII and until the Hordes MkII release only supports Warmachine. The collection management support is very nice and enables [...]

The Feralgeist is the easiest and quickest Hordes or Warmachine miniature I’ve ever painted. It took less than an hour in total. Here’s a step-by-step guide to assembling and painting it. ASSEMBLING Assembling the Feralgeist is straightforward enough, but you will need to apply a couple of advanced assembly skills – pinning and using green [...]
