This is the first 1500pt game I’ve played in a long time and one of the largest games I’ve played with my Blood Angels. I faced Kaleb’s beautifully painted Necrons. In his force he had a few things that were priorities for me to take care of… his Heavy Lokhust Destroyers, the Canoptek Doomstalker and his Skorpekh Destroyers. Not that I wasn’t scared of the rest, but if I could destroy his heavy long ranged guns, it’d mean the heavier elements of my force could act with relative impunity. The Skorpekh Destroyers are such a threat that I’d either need to slow them down, avoid them or fight them on my terms
Deployment

This is an odd mission. We’re trying to move objective markers (using an action) into our territory and ultimately into our deployment zones, if possible. I was attacker so had much deeper deployment zones, but the rub was that I could only move the objectives D6” versus a flat 6” for the defender. I deployed as far forwards as I could and heavily weighted to my left flank. The plan was, unsurprisingly, for me to overwhelm the left and close into melee where possible.
The Game

The plan in the left went quite well, with my vehicles and the large squad of Intercessors move around to deliver enfilading fire onto the Necrons, destroying the Lokhust Destroyers. In the middle my Assault Intercessors (with Chaplain) and the Redemptor hit a large unit of Necrons Warriors and showed them what an Astartes Chainsword can do. On the right I inadvisedly charged by Outriders into the Skorpekh Destroyers, only to be destroyed!
The Wraiths and Immortals focussed attention on my centre ultimately taking out the Assault Intercessors and the dreadnaught, but I managed to pull some objectives into my deep deployment on the left. The VPs were beginning to mount. It took some focus to destroy a unit of Lychguard and the Canoptek, but once that was completed I could attend to the middle.
My Bladeguard and Lieutenant slammed into the Skorpekhs, the source of the Assault Intercessors doom, and picked them apart.
I should mention the Baal Predator. It flamed, blasted and charged (Tank Shock!) into anything it could. It was a sight to behold.
My Inceptors arrived onto his one ‘moved’ objective and blasted his Immortals apart… the Necron force was starting to look thin, with little prospect of moving more objectives…
We decided to call it there!
Until next time,
Owen
