Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2012 brings you joy and peace. I’ve had another good year on the blog. I’ve written 98 posts this year, down a bit from last year. Not bad considering little Ciarán arrived in May! My main focus in 2011 was campaign play and I see that continuing in 2011. [...]

Tonight’s Flames of War game against Peter was great fun. We played the Cauldron scenario with my fortified Hoch und Deutschmeister force defending. I started the game with lots of barbed wire sections, some HMG nests, a Panzer II turret, a platoon of Panzerknacker Rifle/MG troops and my company commander. I kept my three Panzer [...]

Peter and I are four games into our Infantry Aces campaign. Infantry Aces is an escalating campaign with three games played at 500, 700 and 900 points levels. So far we’ve played the three 500pt games and a 700pt game. Honours are pretty even with both of us going different routes for our Ace’s advancement. [...]

The year of the campaign continues. Peter and I have been playing a bit of Flames of War recently, so we decided to give the Infantry Aces campaign (from Cassino) a try. In the past I’ve fielded elite armies, so for this campaign I decided to field some ordinary Grenadiers from the Hoch und Deutschmeister [...]

This is the second campaign in the Menite Incursions arc. The first ended in stalemate as both sides etched out two wins a piece. For this second campaign we continued the story of the Menite forces attempting to make their way north through eastern Khador and move towards the Legion-held Scourge Bringer weapon. I’ve been [...]

In Game 1 I managed to get a win against Feora, but Game 2 wasn’t to go my way! Game 2 Overview Scenario: Killing Field (from Prime MkII) I really missed the ranged elements of my army in this game. I barely dented Phil’s force and ultimately it was the Sunburst of all things that [...]

Recently Phil and I have been getting our game on in VASSAL. We decided to play out a 4 x 25pt game variant of the ANNIHILATION rules. Phil brought his beloved Protectorate of Menoth and I decided to bring my Khadorans out to play. Over the course of the four games we had some great [...]

Here is an update to the two player ANNIHILATION campaign system based on a lot of play testing recently. This new version includes rules for models that bring other models ‘Back from the Dead’. ANNIHILATION v1.2 Feedback and experience would be most appreciated. Owen

This year is turning into the year of the campaign! I decided that I wanted to rebalance my painting and playing as I was finding I had many miniatures painted that had seen very little tabletop time. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy painting in its own right, but upon reflection I didn’t think I [...]

The idea behind this is pretty simple. Campaigns usually fail because they involve too many players and take too long to play. I wanted a campaign that wasn’t going to fall into those traps. Enter the idea of a narrative campaign. It’s simply a story arc to house several smaller campaigns. The Orgoth Legacy is [...]
