I bought these miniatures ages ago, but finishing painting them is pretty momentous. I’m am now fully painted before MkII. Okay, there are a couple of caveats – first one, that’s all of my Warmachine stuff painted, I still have some Hordes miniatures to do. Second one is that I’ve bought the miniatures for my [...]

These have to be the easiest paint job I’ve done in a while. I painted them using a similar technique to Eiryss and used the Citadel Foundation paints on the flesh (Orkhide Shade and Knarloc Green). I then washed it with Thraka Green. Owen

People often find it hard to know where to begin when staring to paint miniatures. I’ve been painting for a long time now and while I’m no pro, I do have a pretty organised painting setup. First off, I keep everything for my current projects on a tray – this allows me to quickly clear [...]

Let’s face it, painting red is a pain in the backside. There are some really good thick pigment paints such as P3s Khador Red Base and the Foundation Mechrite Red, but painting them straight over a black undercoat leaves a dull and flat finish (and still takes 2-3 coats!). I’ve been using three army builders of late, Forward Kommander, Warmachine & Hordes Builder and iBodger. Both are excellent tools. Forward Kommander is a web-based army builder that manages your collection and is primarily focused on MkII and until the Hordes MkII release only supports Warmachine. The collection management support is very nice and enables [...]

The Feralgeist is the easiest and quickest Hordes or Warmachine miniature I’ve ever painted. It took less than an hour in total. Here’s a step-by-step guide to assembling and painting it. ASSEMBLING Assembling the Feralgeist is straightforward enough, but you will need to apply a couple of advanced assembly skills – pinning and using green [...]

Here’s a quick guide for painting some of the details on the mammoth Khadoran ‘caster Karchev the Terrible. The secret to painting a miniature of this size is to get the larger areas painted quickly (and sloppily!) using a large brush and then painting the remainder with as much precision as is needed in order [...]

The glue holding the flock is still drying on the base, so this guy is fresh off the painting table. He is a mammoth miniature, but surprisingly not that bad to paint. I’ll post a painting guide when I get a chance to take a few more shots. After painting the Wood Elves Forest Dragon [...]
