In another good day of painting I managed to complete Bane Lord Tartarus. I wanted him to have a similar colour to the Bane Thralls, but to also have the blue hue which is a subtle theme colour in the army. I painted the brown in much the same way as I did on the [...]

In another flurry of painting I managed to finish a unit of six Bane Thralls today. I decided to paint them a little differently to my other unit, so that they look more like the Goreshade paint job. This was in order to use them as his ‘raised’ unit on the feat turn. The overall [...]

This is not a general purpose article on how to photograph miniatures, despite the title. It is a guide to how I shoot ‘quick’ photographs. By quick I mean picking up the camera, grabbing a sheet of A4, placing the miniature, turning on the lamp and then shooting. Post editing is optional, but worth the [...]

Yesterday was a big painting day (6 hours!). I managed to finish two (minimum) units of Mechanithralls and Bile Thralls. I have yet to base them, but I’ll wait to do that when the next two units are painted (Bane Thralls and Bane Knights). Here’s one of the Bile Thralls – The technique was fairly [...]

I’ve been collecting the Cryx for quite a while, but they are definitely my third faction behind Khador and Legion of [...]

I’ve been working on these recently. So far I’ve painted four units of cavalry, three units of chariots, two units of carrion, four units of archers, three liche priests and a tomb king. There is a Sphinx on the painting table at the moment and I have a load of things to assemble (Skull Chukkas, [...]

On the 12th June 1944 (D-Day +6) the 101st Airborne took Carentan, a crucial objective that provided a linkup between Utah and Omaha beaches. They encountered only light resistance with the majority of the 6th Fallschirmjager Regiment having withdrawn due to a shortage of ammunition. This two-battle campaign describes the events of the following day, when the 501st, 502nd and 506th PIR encountered the German counter attacking force consisting of paratroopers and the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division to the southwest of the city.
